(SEE “NOTIFICATIONS” CIRCLED IN RED)A new feature allows a flyer dated for a future event to be viewed singularly, rather than the need to search through a lengthy Farsider. If you want to quickly check for the date or time of an event such as Michael Johnson’s Memorial, or the Emerald Society’s Fundraiser, click on “Notifications” in the tool bar first.

Robert Garza Avila

 October 29th 1963 – March 7, 2020

Robert was born and raised in San Jose, CA. He attended St. John Vianney, Bellarmine High School and Gonzaga University. He joined the San Jose Police Department in 1986. He worked in several units such as YSD, GIU, and served as protective detail for the Mayor’s office under Mayor Ron Gonzalez. He retired from SJPD in November 2013. He had fond memories of playing softball with the SJPD softball team and attending the police olympics. He also served many years as director for the SJPOA board. He passed away on March 7, 2020 after a brief illness. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by family. He leaves behind three children, Andrea Silva (Gus Silva), Austin Avila and Amanda Avila and a granddaughter, Jocelyn Silva. We will be holding a Celebration of Life on behalf of our father, Bobby Avila on Sunday March 15th, 2020 at 12:30pm at San Jose POA Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the San Jose Police Chaplaincy PO Box 2202 San Jose CA 95109. A special thank you to the Keith Kelly Club on behalf of the family for the overwhelming support and assistance during this difficult

time.

Who has a birthday in March?

Get your picture taken at the meeting and look like you are having fun getting older. Lie about your age if you like. Only your friends will know:-)
Don’t hesitate to send pics of any private Bday parties you might have at home or the local bar.
Include pics of the nekkid persons popping out of the cake!
(just kidding!)
