Subject: Hey
Mike,
I was just told that my brother Ed passed 5 1/2 hrs ago, at 4:15 January 9. He died peacefully.
Your visit to see him last September meant much to him and to me, and I have no words to say how thankful I am to you for that.
I talked to his daughter Kim. I’ll email you again tomorrow to let you know.As always,
Stan

ED & STAN

Active PD service February 1, 1971 to October 30, 1999

Ed was drafted when he was 19 years old (DOB June 25, 1947) , and selected to be a paratrooper with the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team —the only separate airborne brigade in the United States Army.

The 173rd was the first major ground combat unit of the Army to serve in Vietnam, starting in 1965.

He hardly ever talked to me about it but I know it was a tough experience. There certainly aren’t smiles on the soldiers’ faces in the photo.

You are the best, Mike, for arranging a proper goodbye for Ed.

Stan

Ed passed away at a board and care home on January 9, 2020 and will be laid to rest at the Mission City Memorial Park at 2:00pm on Wednesday January 15th. The graveside service will start promptly at 2pm so please come a little early. Everyone is encouraged to attend. Thank you!
