From the Family of Kathleen Alfano
(Wife of Retired Officer Phil Alfano)

Dear Friends,

Here is the obituary as well as the venues and times for Kathleen’s Celebration of Life. We understand that distance and commitments may make attending difficult, but we wanted to make sure you were all included.

Resident of Pleasanton
August 26, 1951 – April 24, 2015

Kathleen passed away on Friday, April 24th, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Berkeley, CA, to the late Giovanna Contini Boyle and Robert William Boyle. Kathleen was a graduate of St. Elizabeth’s High in Oakland. Her early career was that of a dental assistant, receiving her AA from Chabot College. Kathleen was active in her Pleasanton Community and her church, St. Augustine’s. But the thing she was most proud of was her family.

Kathleen was married to the love of her life, Phillip, for 36 years. Together they have two amazing sons, Angelo, 35 and Anthony, 34. They were truly the light of her life. She spent endless hours helping at their schools, teaching CCD and volunteering for Pleasanton Partnership in Education.

Kathleen is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Angela and Rich Cordero, of Danville,  and their children, Christina, Ryan and Gina, and many loving family and friends too numerous to mention.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, April 29, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. at Graham-Hitch Mortuary, 4167 First St., Pleasanton.

Funeral Mass will be Thursday, April 30, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, 3999 Bernal St., Pleasanton.

Internment will immediately follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 26320 Mission Blvd., Hayward.

Reception to follow at the home of Angela and Rich Cordero. (Those who will be attending the reception are asked to RSVP for a headcount since it will be held at a private residence. Phone or email Angela at 925-998-1399, email

For questions, contact Angela (Kathleen's sister) using the information above, or Angelo (Phil's son) at 925-922-9034, email

Charitable Donations may be made in honor of Kathleen to: Hope Hospice, 6377 Clark Ave., Ste. 100, Dublin, CA.  94568

Thank you all for remembering the extraordinary life of Kathleen and her family.
